Events celebrating the opening of the 2012 Baseball Season
1) Demonstration of Bat Making by Master Kubota

11:00 ~ 12:00, 14:00 ~ 15:00
On Friday, March 30 and Saturday, March 31
At the Baseball Hall of Fame
Under the auspices of Mizuno Corporation
This is the 3rd consecutive event to celebrate the opening of the annual baseball season by Master Isokazu Kubota of Mizuno Technics. He was designated gOutstanding Skilled Workerh by the Ministry of Health, Labor Welfare in 2003 and awarded a Yellow Ribbon Medal in 2005. He is well-known for his making bats for Ichiro Suzuki and Hideki Matsui. The demonstration will be accompanied by his live talk on interesting episodes
of bat making.

2) Decorative Banners Renewed heralding the 2012 Baseball Season

New banners feature (1) a poem by Shiki Masaoka, 2002 Hall of Famer;
Harukaze ya/ Mari o nagetaki/ Kusa no hara
(Cozy spring breeze/ Over the grassy ground/ How I want to play ball!)
and (2) the front cover of the first sports book in Japan entirely written on baseball, "Yakyu" (pub. 1897) by Kanae Chuma, 1970 Hall of Famer.

3) Original Postcards to be presented to our visitors

From Saturday, March 3( the first exhibition game of the season at Tokyo Dome is scheduled there and then) until Sunday, April 1, a postcard featuring a poem by Shiki Masaoka (see the above) will be presented to each and every visitor to our Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.
