The Baseball Museum Greets 5,000,000th Visitor
Today, at 11:50 am, on Tuesday, May 4, 2010, the Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum greeted the 5,000,000th visitor since it was opened to the public on June 12, 1959. The memorable visitor, Mr. Shigehiro Aoyagi and his family from Fukushima City, was presented a bat modeled on Ichiro's from Hiroshi Satou, president of the BHFM (see photo).
As many as 680 ball fans applied (from April 7 to April 21) to the quiz to predict the day when the BHFM will greet its 5,000,00th visitor. Three successful applicants were chosen by lottery from 54 applicants who predicted correctly. They will be given one of three bats modeled on those of Kiyohara, Kokubo and Nishi.
