2009 Summer Events at the Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum
1) Baseball Study by Elementary and Junior High School Students
Saturday, July 18, 2009 through Sunday, August 31, 2009
At the Baseball Library

Baseball terminology, stadiums, equipment, statistics, and history of baseball will provide good topics for free study by elementary and junior high school students during their summer vacation.
The two librarians and student assistants will be at hand to show them how to read books in the library and use artifacts on display in all sections of the baseball museum to help them do their free study.(Photo left from 2008)


2) Demonstration of bat making
Tuesday, August 18, 2009 and the following day at the Baseball Hall of Fame
11:00-12:00, 13:30-14:30, 15:00-16:00
In cooperation with Mizuno Corporation.

It will mark the 6th year of bat making demonstration at the Baseball Museum. The craftsman at work will welcome any questions on bat making. (Photo left from 2008)


3) Hands-on Experience of Producing a (hardball) Baseball by a parent-child team

The participants will stitch the last 10 or more of the 108 stitches to put on two pieces of leather. They can take home a ball of their own making

In cooperation with Mizuno Corporation.

Entry: 20 pairs of elementary school student and his/her parent or protector.
Entry fee 1,300 yen per pair including admission tickets.
Explanation will be given in Japanese.
The application will be accepted by a postcard or an application form within the museum, with applicants' names, address (and e-mail address), and phone number. The deadline will be Friday, July 24. Successful applicants (to be decided by lot) will be notified later from the Museum.
