Temporary exhibition: "Lost Ballparks in Tokyo"
September 8 through November 19, 2017
At the Temporary Exhibition Gallery
The "Lost Ballparks in Tokyo" traces the professional baseball ballparks in Tokyo area that no longer exist, e.g., the Korakuen Stadium, the Komazawa Baseball Park and the Tokyo Stadium. The exhibition features a bat used by Shigeo Nagashima of the Yomiuri Giants (1988 HOF) when he hit a game-winning home run in the first professional baseball game ever attended by the Japanese emperor. On June 25 1959, the Showa Emperor Hirohito and Empress Kojun attended the game between the Yomiuri Giants and the Hanshin Tigers held at the Korakuen Stadium. The bat is kindly on loan from Nagashima, and will be displayed in the Baseball Museum for the first time since 1991.
