Monument for the baseball players killed in the last war (1937-1945)


The unveiling ceremony of the monument (photo left) dedicated to the memory of non-pro baseball players who were killed in the Second World War was held on Monday, November 7, 2005, at the Baseball Hall of Fame. It was constructed at the 60th anniversary of the end of the war to repose those 172 dead players who had participated in the Japan Middle School Baseball Championship at Koshien Stadium and/or four University Leagues in Tokyo and Osaka and/or Inter-City Baseball Championship Tournament The monument, 102 cm X 171 cm, is now placed at the Amateur Corner of the Baseball Museum.

The epitaph on the monument was dedicated by Nippon Professional Baseball, Japan Amateur Baseball Association, Japan Student Baseball Association and the Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.
