He played a big part in building the golden era of the Seibu Lions, leading them to 11 league pennants and 8 Japan Series titles. During his career with the Daiei Hawks and Yomiuri Giants, he won 11 JS titles in 14 appearances. He is the only pitcher to register a victory in the JS with 3 teams.
