The second baseman at Ichiko in 1907 and 1908 was destined to research the history of baseball in Japan. In 1972, he published his lifework, "The Genesis of Baseball in Japan," in which he concluded that baseball was first introduced to Japan in 1872 and was played at the present site of Gakushi-Kaikan in Tokyo.
