In 1973, he purchased the Nittaku Home Flyers franchise and became its owner, renaming the team the Nippon Ham Fighters. Innovative and enthusiastic in his club management, he began camps in Okinawa and set up the Kamagaya Fighters Town. He was also keen on promoting the entire Pacific League.
