Joining the Tokyo Giants in 1942, "jaja-uma," or wild mustang, won a season-long three-way close battle for the batting title and shared the home run title in 1948. In 1951, he batted his team to the first victory in the Japan Series in the 2-league era. The power hitter was the home run leader 5 times.
