This formidable submarine pitcher was the first choice in the 1970 draft for the Hankyu Braves. He left a splendid record: 284 wins with 10 or more victories for 17 consecutive years, MVP for three consecutive years, pitching 200 or more innings 13 times. He also pitched in 12 consecutive openers.
